April FAIL
April 1st, 2008 Posted in News and Current EventsOkay well today, the 1st of April is traditionally April Fools. I think the novelty tends to wear off more and more each year but anyway. I didn’t have anything planned to fool anyone with this year and I didn’t even really get anything happen to me either so that’s quite calm. We did have a neat little trick planned at the Petroglyph Forums which somewhat feel through due to the lack of participation from a certain someone… oh well - there’s always another year.
However, whilst browsing through Stuff.co.nz (which happens to be my homepage) I stumbled upon what I like to refer to as an “April Fail”.
Kiwi radio station The Rock has apologised to listeners after an April Fool’s Day prank involving a “secret” Foo Fighters show went wrong.
The station began promoting the false concert - an intimate acoustic show by the American rock act at Auckland venue the Powerstation - yesterday morning.
They expected around 50 people to turn up for the show this morning - April Fool’s Day - at 8.15am.
Instead of an appearance by Dave Grohl and the rest of the popular act, the station planned to play a Foo Fighters album on a tape deck.
But by 5pm yesterday the station was overwhelmed by inquiries and pulled the stunt. It confessed that it was an April Fool’s Day gag and apologised to listeners. Full Story.
